The
Friedrich Company was started in 1927 by Reinhard and Wella Friedrich,
who immigrated to Ames, Iowa from Germany. They started the business with
the construction of new homes including one of their very own. Soon
after the completion of their first home, the Friedrichs began
making a living building a new home, then living in it until they
could sell it, and then moving on to the next building project. Eventually,
the venture grew into much more than a couple making their way
from home to home. Below is a timeline highlighting the growth
and history through the years:

The Friedrichs
began the rental business with the construction of apartments
in the Beach/Gray area of Ames. They continued to purchase
and build rental properties over the years. |
| 1940's |
Friedrich began
land development in Ames with over 40 subdivisions of various
sizes developed and constructed in their names. |
| 1960's |
Developed Edgewood
Park apartments and retained ownership, adding 72 apartments
to the company inventory. |
| 1970's |
Partnered with
other investors to construct several subdivisions to include
Parkview Heights, Spring Valley, Northwood, and others. |
| 1980's |
Continued partnership
to develop Northridge subdivision, and individually to build
Grandview Square Apartments, adding 90 units to the company
inventory. Commercial Construction added to services - built
City Of Ames Main Fire Station and City Maintenance Facility,
numerous other commercial structures. |
| 1990's |
Continued Developments
individually and in partnership such as Somerset Village, Meadowview
in Huxley Oakwood, and others. Affiliated with Iowa Realty
and became Friedrich Iowa Realty, retaining the Distinction
of being the largest and most productive office in their Affiliate
System. Began a successful relationship with Regency/Midland
Builders and marketed Bloomington Heights, adding several hundred
new homes to the City of Ames |
